CWC meeting: I am full-time and field president of the Congress, says Sonia Gandhi

The congressional working committee meets to discuss organizational polls and the current political situation in which the party finds itself. Speaking of the party presidency, Sonia Gandhi said that she is a full-time and active congresswoman.

Here are the highlights …

1. Message to G23: The congressional leader said she was the full-time party president and there was no need for leaders to talk to her through the media. His remarks came days after Kapil Sibal, one of the leaders of the Group of 23 who wrote to Sonia Gandhi for an organizational overhaul last year, called for an immediate meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC ) was called and wondered who in the party was making decisions in the absence of a full-time chair.

2. Centre’s National Monetization Pipeline (NMP) program:
She said the country’s social goals were threatened due to the government’s one-point program led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi “Becho, Becho, Becho” (sell, sell, sell).

3. Rising inflation: “The prices of basic necessities – food and fuel included – continue to rise steadily. Could anyone in the country imagine that gasoline prices would exceed 100 rupees per liter, diesel would hit the 100 rupees per liter mark, a gas cylinder would cost 900 rupees and cooking oil would equal at 200 rupees per liter? It makes life unbearable for people across the country. ”

4. Organizational election: Covid had indefinitely delayed the party’s plans to elect a regular leader of Congress, which was initially scheduled to happen before June 30.

5. Increase in killings in Jammu and Kashmir: “Obviously, minorities have been targeted,” she said, adding that “this must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.”

“We have done it and I am doing it again this morning. Jammu and Kashmir has been Union territory for two years. The entire responsibility of bringing the perpetrators of these barbaric crimes to justice lies with the government of Union. Restoring social peace and harmony and confidence among the people of Jammu and Kashmir also rests with the Modi government. ”

6.
Government position on the farmers’ protest: “We come together against the backdrop of the continuing turmoil of farmers and farmer organizations. It has been over a year since the “teen kaale kanoons” were bulldozed by Parliament. We had done our best to put them through legislative scrutiny, but the Modi government was determined to push them through so that a few private companies could benefit, ”Gandhi said.

“The farmers immediately started to protest and have suffered a lot since then. The shocking incidents of Lakhimpur-Kheri recently betrayed the BJP’s state of mind, the way they perceive Kisan Andolan, the way they handled this determined struggle by Kisans to protect their lives. and livelihoods, ”she added.

In an edifying spirit, she said the party could do well in the next election if they stay united and face the party’s challenges together.
