Building on the recent victory in neighboring Punjab, the Aam Admi Party (AAP) has announced the establishment of a new state working committee for Himachal Pradesh.

Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia at a press conference here on Tuesday announced the reorganization of the new state working committee.

Earlier in April, the state work committee was dissolved by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal led by the AAP after some of his state leaders joined the BJP in power.

The state Assembly election is scheduled for later this year.

“Today a new chapter has been added and a new team has been announced who will work with dedication in Himachal to replicate Arvind Kejriwal’s governance model to bring about improvement in Himachal,” he said. Sisodia said as he released a list of 400 office bearers, including new party leader Surjeejt Singh Thakur.

Introducing Thakur, he said he hails from a village of Rajgarh in Sirmaur district and comes from a modest family. An active party worker, having worked in the hotel industry, he left his job to join the AAP in 2016.

“Thakur is a party elder and has been actively involved in party affairs for some time. He had also served on the Election Organizing Committee for the elections held in Delhi and Punjab,” Sisodia said.

Over the past few months, AAP Party workers have led a “Jan Sampark Abhiyan” in each segment of the State Assembly and within this a “Gram Sampark Abhiyan” has been launched. Making inroads into all gram panchayats, party workers visited every gram panchayat and mobilized the masses and sensitized them about the party.

The party has 5 to 6 lakh members in Himachal, he claimed.

“The people of the state want change. Nor do they want to go with the Congress party, which they ousted by voting for the BJP, which has disappointed them for the past five years. People in the state are fed up with the ruling BJP, which has failed miserably and become synonymous with a useless government that has not worked in education, health and tourism. Both Congress and BJP have betrayed the people of Himachal,” he claimed.

“The entry of AAP with the message of bringing change has evoked hope for the people of Himachal. People are well aware of the development model of AAP in Delhi under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal,” he said, adding that even the new APP government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has started working with dedication and honesty for the development and progress of Punjab.

“In every segment of Assembly 68 in the state, where party workers go, they are greeted wholeheartedly with optimism and a glimmer of hope,” he said.

He said that the Executive Committee at Panchyat level will soon be constituted.

Attacking the BJP, he alleged that the party had become “trash” by taking incompetent people from other parties.
Responding to a question about the ED proceedings against Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, Sisodia said the Center was forcibly digging cases against AAP leaders and it was all about an old case.
