In preparation for the 2024 general elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) working committee in Bihar met on Wednesday and instructed the district committees to complete the task of appointing the ‘panna pramukhs’ by April next year.

As part of the BJP’s plans to ensure greater participation at the pit level, the party has focused on the “panna pramukh” system.

‘Panna Pramukhs’ will be the party’s first point of contact with voters at the polling booth, with each ‘panna pramukh’ responsible for establishing contact with approximately 30 voters from a given page of a voters list .

BJP state chairman Sanjay Jaiswal said the party is focusing on Bihar and has instructed its district committees to complete the appointment of “panna pramukhs” by April 4, 2022.

“Committee formation will be controlled by regional officials,” he said.

District units were also asked to complete the committee formation process by December 26.

A political resolution was adopted at the meeting, which hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Yojana for four months. He also praised the role played by the BJP in the partial polls recently held.

“In the last Bihar assembly by-elections, our allies won. For this, all our stand presidents and animators played a role. Thank you all, this is the result of the collective effort of the NDA,” Jaiswal said.

“In Bihar, if we managed to win two-thirds of our seats by putting aside the anti-incumbents [factor], so it’s [because of] the hard work of all BJP workers,” he said.

The party’s policy resolution also hailed the government’s role in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic.
