New Delhi: Congress leader Sonia Gandhi addressed the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Monday and said self-criticism should not be done in such a way that self-confidence and morals get disintegrate and an atmosphere of sadness and unhappiness becomes pervasive. “Self-criticism is necessary in party forums, but should not be done in a way that erodes self-confidence, morale. Seek the full cooperation of leaders to ensure unity, determination, commitment to accelerated congressional stimulus,” she said in an apparent reference. to dissenting voices within the party lately.

“Congress has been good to all, it’s time to repay this debt in full. There is no magic wand, only discipline, a cohesive collective goal to demonstrate our tenacity, our resilience. Chintan Shivir should not be a ritual, it should herald a restructured organization to meet ideological and electoral challenges,” Sonia Gandhi said at the meeting.

Many senior leaders including Congress Speaker Sonia Gandhi, former President Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot attended the meeting.

Its agenda brainstorming session will be held in Udaipur, Rajasthan from May 13-15.

The Congress had announced last month that party leaders from across the country would discuss internal issues and suggest solutions to strengthen the organization in Chintan Shivir.

About 400 senior party leaders are expected at the camp. Besides the leaders included in the Congress Working Committee (CWC), senior leaders including Members of Parliament, State Officials, Secretaries General and State Presidents will attend the Chintan Shivir.

Earlier, top Congress leaders KC Venugopal, Ajay Maken and Ashok Gehlot gave an update on Chintan Shivir preparations on Wednesday. Days after considering election strategist Prashant Kishor’s suggestions, Congress had announced that an “Empowered Action Group – 2024” would be set up to strengthen the party for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and address future challenges.

Kishor then refused Congress’s offer to join the party and formulate the party’s election strategy. The Congress has started preparations for Assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh later this year, in addition to other state elections in 2023 and Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
