FCT, Abuja – Emerging reports have confirmed that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling APC party will now assume the responsibilities of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party.

According to a Channel TV report, the transfer of power will see the NWC in charge for the next three months.

As collected by Legit.ngthe motion for the transfer of power was proposed by the President of the Senate and seconded by the President of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila during an emergency meeting on Wednesday April 20.

President Buhari chaired the 11th NEC meeting

According to other reports, President Muhammadu Buhari is chairing the 11th NEC meeting alongside Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other senior party members.

Speaking at the meeting, Senate Speaker Farouk Lawan spoke of the ongoing insecurity crisis in the country.

Lawan, who spoke confidently and assertively, said security concerns would be cleared up before President Buhari closes the curtains on his administration.

The party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, who was present at the meeting, said the meeting between NEC and NWC was arranged to mend the bad blood between the aggrieved members ahead of the 2023 presidential poll.

Adamu, in his remark, urged party members to keep behaving and letting go of any form of ego.

2023: APC announces date for NEC meeting to decide primaries, others

Recall that the APC had set for Wednesday, April 20 its first meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) since the emergence of the new National Working Committee (NWC).

Felix Morka, the party spokesperson, who disclosed in a statement on Friday April 15, said the meeting would take place at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

Morka noted that the meeting is convened under Article 25.2.ii of the party constitution.

2023: Tinubu congratulates new NWC members

Meanwhile, the national leader of the ruling APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, congratulated the newly elected members of the party’s NWC.

Previously, the ruling party held its National Election Convention from Saturday March 26 to Sunday March 27 ahead of the 2023 general election.

During the convention, 77 national officers emerged, with Abdullahi Adamu becoming the party’s national chairman.
