The BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit working committee is due to meet on July 16. The meeting was originally scheduled for July 7 but was postponed due to the expansion of the Union cabinet and panchayat and bloc elections in the state.

In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP made up for the loss suffered in the Panchayat elections by winning the lion’s share of seats in the elections for the post of bloc leader. The BJP, which backed candidates in 735 seats in the panchayat bloc polls, won 648 seats out of a total of 825.

The party is now seeking to present a program ahead of the 2022 UP Assembly elections.

Key decisions on the party’s election manifesto are expected to be made at the July 16 working committee meeting. This meeting will be held virtually due to the threat of Covid-19.

Members of the BJP UP working committee will join the meeting from the party headquarters in Lucknow and the various district offices spread across the state. The central leadership of the party will also attend the virtual meeting from New Delhi.

Apart from the BJP’s roadmap for the 2022 UP Assembly elections, the working committee will also discuss how to strengthen the party on the ground through the formation of review committees.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has publicly stated that the BJP will win over 300 seats out of 403 in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
