In a major achievement, Uttar Pradesh recorded the lowest unemployment rate of 2.9% according to the latest survey released by the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE).

UP has outperformed states like Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu in providing jobs to the unemployed.

Uttar Pradesh is followed by Tamil Nadu with an unemployment rate of 3.2%, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh with 5.8% each, West Bengal with 6.2% and Punjab with 7.2 %.

CMIE, the country’s unemployment and business activities watchdog, revealed that Rajasthan (28.8%), Jharkhand (14.2%) and Delhi (11.2%) are the most affected in terms of unemployment.

According to monthly CMIE data, the unemployment rate in Uttar Pradesh fell to 2.9% in April 2022 from 4.4% in March this year. Notably, the government of Uttar Pradesh, in its previous rule between 2017 and 2022, had set a record by providing more than five lakh government jobs to the youths of the state.

The visionary policies and employment-oriented programs initiated by the UP government have played a huge role in promoting the creation of new businesses and the simultaneous creation of new employment opportunities for young people.

Due to the rapid revival of economic activity, growth investment, industry and trade in Uttar Pradesh, the state has reached the lowest level in terms of unemployment. Even after COVID-19, the UP government spared no effort to provide jobs for young people.

Under the Rojgar Mission, employment opportunities are provided to the people of the state through various departments, institutions, and corporations. Over the past five years, under various Yogi Adityanath Government self-employment programs, efforts have been made to connect approximately three million people to employment.
