KATHMANDU, April 13: A meeting of the Nepalese Congress (NC) Central Working Committee is being held today to discuss the local level election, candidate selection and party election manifesto.

The meeting to be held at the party’s central office in Lalitpur in the afternoon is scheduled to finalize the manifesto for the local elections. The meeting will also discuss the problems encountered at the local level to forge an alliance between the parties of the ruling coalition.

At today’s meeting, the rival faction within the party will raise questions about the government’s performance. The faction led by Dr Shekhar Koirala is also expected to raise the issue of action against the governor and demand a new face as finance minister.

Before leaving for the meeting, the leaders affiliated with the Koirala faction will hold a group discussion and prepare the questions to present at the meeting. The leaders close to the Koirala faction will prepare the agenda which will be presented at today’s meeting this morning.

Koirala, who has come out in favor of coordinating local elections solely on the basis of local needs and justifications, has previously raised various issues with party chairman and prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
