The All India Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, will convene its second National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in New Delhi on March 10, to expand its base across India.

All leaders at national level and new office holders, as well as Trinamool MPs, are expected to join the meeting.

The first NOC meeting was held on Friday.

In view of the Lok Sabha polls in 2024 and to develop a national action plan for the expansion of the party, Trinamool’s senior leadership has decided to schedule the second NWC meeting in New Delhi, sources said.

“The second meeting is scheduled for March 10 in New Delhi. Trinamool Chairperson Mamata Banerjee will visit New Delhi at that time. The main objective is to establish the party as a national party ahead of the elections in Lok Sabha,” a senior Trinamool executive said. AND.

Banerjee also called on NWC members to make the party more active in New Delhi during Saturday’s meeting.

To make its presence felt in the nation’s capital, a team of national spokespersons, especially for Delhi, comprising Mohua Maitra, Sukhendu Sekhar Roy and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar have been assembled.

While Dastidar has been appointed as the new National Spokesperson (Lok Sabha), Rajya Sabha MP Roy will act as the new National Spokesperson (Rajya Sabha). The trio will meet regularly with the media in the nation’s capital as per Banerjee’s directive.

Banerjee reappointed Abhishek Banerjee as National General Secretary and named Yashwant Sinha, Subrata Bakshi and Chandrima Bhattacharya as the three new National Vice Presidents.

After the election of the Chairman and all other NWC office holders, the details will be submitted to the Election Commission of India (ECI) as per its guidelines by March 31.

Banerjee also asked the NWC to develop draft policies on behalf of the party. Several committees – including on policymaking and economic policy and external affairs – have been launched.

Sinha is in charge of the external affairs committee while Amit Mitra will lead the economic policy committee. Mitra is also part of the Policy Development Committee.
