The National League for Democracy (NLD) announced the formation of a new seven-member central working committee on 5 November.

The committee consists of U Aung Kyi Nyunt and U Tin Htut Oo, current members of the Central Executive Committee; Dr. Khin Saung, reserve member of the Central Executive Committee and U Tun Myint, U Kyaw Htwe, U Myo Naing and U Win Aung, members of the Steering Committee.

The steering committee was formed on January 30, 2021. The NLD announced in the release that the central working committee was formed with the consent of all who attended the meeting of state and regional officials who s is held on October 30.

U Aung Kyi Nyunt, U Tun Myint and U Myo Naing from the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Representative Committee (PRHC) were involved but no member of the Women’s Committee was involved in the Central Working Committee.

The NLD announced that a Central Working Committee has been formed to implement the NLD Principles and the provisions of the 2020 Election Declaration, to connect and carry out party activities and to facilitate cross-party relations both locally and abroad with all members of the Central Executive Committee, including the NLD President, as they cannot currently call a plenary meeting.

Fourteen members of the central executive, including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the current NLD President and State Councillor, NLD Vice President and President U Win Myint, have been detained by the military council since the coup. February 1 statement.
