On February 18, DRX defeated DWG KIA in the 2022 LCK Spring Split. With this win, DRX extended their winning streak to 6 and moved into 3rd place in the LCK. In the match, Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo and Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu were voted Players of the Games. They joined Lee Jeong-hyun after the match for an interview.
How does today’s victory taste?
skillful: It was like we were hanging out all the time. I’m glad we turned things around.
You are on a 6-fight winning streak and finished Round 1 in 3rd place. How do you feel about that?
Zeka: Since we continued our winning streak until the end of the first round, I think we will do well if we prepare more for the second round.
BeryL played against his former team. Was he looking forward to beating them?
skillful: BeryL is always impatient when playing, so it wasn’t much different in-game. But BeryL usually goes back to rest at 4am, and he was working on something after 5am yesterday. He said he was studying the drafts. Thanks to that, I saw that I really wanted to win.
Your win rate on Jinx is even higher now. Aren’t you surprised yourself?
skillful: Since it’s not 100%, I’m not too surprised.
Do you think you will be surprised if it reaches 99.99%?
skillful: Yeah, I probably will. [Laughs]
When Canyon’s Diana evolved well, it would have been difficult. How do you plan to resolve the situation?
skillful: Although Diana is adapting well, I thought we had a better composition. When they rushed into a mid lane fight, I thought we won.
You have built Maw of Malmortius on your Jinx.
skillful: I don’t really build Malmortius often. In this game, I wanted to avoid getting hit by Diana.
DRX has a 100% win rate in Game 3 this season. Were you aware of this before Game 3?
Zeka: I didn’t know, but since we won game 2, I thought if we worked harder with the momentum, we could win.
Ahri won in LCK for the first time in 5 years. How did you end up choosing it?
Zeka: Since Ahri was reworked, I tried to play her. She was pretty good at solo queuing, so I trained her a lot. But after playing her in an official game, I think Ahri stinks.
skillful: Haha.
You lost to Ahri in game 1, but took it back with a different jungler in game 3. What was the feedback between those games?
Zeka: When I played Ahri during practice, I played her with Lee Sin. In game 3 the angle was good so I took it back.
Zeka says Ahri stinks. What do you think, Deft?
skillful: I think he played a lot better in training. He played well today too. If he is able to play as well as in training, Ahri is a good champion.
DWG KIA played center while DRX played through the side lanes.
Zeka: I think we played this way because Ahri prefers playing in the lanes rather than facing each other in the mid lane.
In game 3, you chose Xayah. What did you think of the bot lane match?
skillful: As for Xayah against Aphelios, Xayah can take priority, but they took Karma, so it was difficult. We were able to win because we endured this situation.
Was it harder than you thought?
skillful: They banned two bot champions during the draft, so I was aiming for a more supporting role. My teammates did well, so we won.
Ahri decided the end result with this pick-off.
Zeka: Honestly, I thought we couldn’t win before this last team fight. Fortunately, we won the team fight.
When is Ahri strong?
Zeka: If she’s wearing Ignite, Ahri is good at securing early game objectives like the Rift Herald.
You ended the first round on a 6-game winning streak. How long do you expect to extend the winning streak?
Zeka: If possible, I would like to go at least 10.
Your first round 2 match is Hanwha Life Esports. How are you going to play against them?
skillful: The atmosphere and the momentum of the team are really good now. Since I want to continue the good rhythm, I will prepare well and make sure that we win.
