Ahead of its “Chintan Shivir” in Udaipur in Rajasthan, the Congress’s supreme decision-making body, the CWC, will meet at the AICC headquarters here on May 9 to deliberate on the agenda for the retreat as well as the party’s future strategy.

The party announced last month that the ‘Chintan Shivir’, a three-day brainstorming session from May 13-15, would be held in Udaipur, where party leaders from across the country will discuss internal issues facing it. confronted and find solutions to galvanize the organization.

About 400 senior party leaders are expected at the camp. Senior leaders including those of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), members of parliament, state officials, chief secretaries and state presidents will attend the Chintan Shivir.

Ahead of the Chintan Shivir, a Congress working committee meeting was convened on May 9 at the AICC headquarters here, party sources said.

Shivir’s agenda and the party’s future strategy on key issues are likely to be discussed, they said.

Top Congress leaders KC Venugopal, Ajay Maken and Ashok Gehlot had given an update on preparations for the Chintan Shivir on Wednesday.

Shaken by a series of electoral setbacks, Congress had also earlier announced that an Empowered Group would be formed to address the upcoming political challenges and prepare the strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, days after deliberating on a plan stimulus presented by polls strategist Prashant. Kishor.

Kishor had later declined Congress’s offer to join the party and evolve its polling strategy and said more than he did, the party needs leadership and collective will to address deep-rooted structural issues by conducting transformational reforms.

The party also formed six umbrella groups to draft documents and lead discussions on issues of political and organizational importance, social justice, economy, farmers and youth during the three-day brainstorming conclave.
