Jammu: A few days after the all-party meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, the Jammu and Kashmir BJP held its working committee meeting on Monday, June 28 and adopted a policy resolution, calling for the completion speeding up the delimitation process and the holding of assembly elections on the territory of the Union.

The meeting also called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to ensure an end to illegal mining and price fixing of minor minerals, including sand, and to respond to long pending demands from daily bets, village defense committees, home guards, special police officers and other sections of society, J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina said.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting at the party headquarters here, Raina said the meeting unanimously adopted a political resolution asking the boundary commission to quickly complete the assigned task to pave the way for the holding of assembly elections and popular government.

Addressing the party leaders, Raina said the party has a big mission ahead to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir.

“We must prepare for the elections from today and move forward together for the success of our mission, which is to form the next government with the BJP chief minister in the chair with the full majority…I am sure that with your efforts, we will overcome all obstacles and come out victorious whenever the elections are held,” the BJP leader said.

He briefed workers on the all-party meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on June 24 and said it had ended the political deadlock at J&K as all 14 invited leaders from eight major parties attended.

Raina said the working committee expressed concern about “illegal mining” activities and skyrocketing levels of minor minerals and sand.

“We are calling on the Lieutenant Governor to intervene to end illegal mining and bring down rising prices. We will not hesitate to start an agitation in the public interest,” he said.

He said the committee had also called on the lieutenant governor to respond to long-pending requests for more than a lakh daily wagers, casual and need-based workers who work in 28 different government departments and await their regularization. over the past three decades.

The meeting also called for addressing the issues of the village defense committee and special police officers who fought alongside security agencies to eradicate terrorism from the harsh and mountainous districts of Jammu province and home guards.
