The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its State Working Committee (SWC), led by a former member of the House of Representatives, Acho Obioma.

The party’s former state chairman, Chief Donatus Nwankpa, handed over the leadership of the party to Obioma yesterday at the party secretariat on Azikwe Road in the state capital Umuahia.

Nwankpa said the emergence of Obioma, as state chairman of the party, represented the wish of its members, adding that his reign marked the beginning of a new era in Abia APC.

Nwankpa revealed that the APC under his leadership rose from obscurity to stardom, pointing out that one man, who refused to submit to party leadership, could not hijack the party.

He insisted that there is no faction in Abia APC, but rather there is a part of the party that is loyal to the party’s national interim chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni of the state. of Yobe.

In his acceptance speech, Obioma commended party members for the trust placed in him, saying he would do the job to the best of his abilities.

He urged party members to hold regular ward and council level meetings to enhance their growth. He said, “Abia APC has discovered that all residents of Abia want a change of government in the state. We are committed to bringing this change to the people of the state by 2023.

“We therefore seek the support of everyone to help us in our quest to bring about this change in Abia State.”
The party’s publicity secretary, Mike Odoemena, told reporters that Obioma remained the APC’s incumbent state chairman, while the secretariat remained No.38 Azikwe Road, Umuahia.
